To celebrate Country Music Month, RadioTime.com today released its Top 19 Country Music Stations rankings, a list of the most popular country music stations among RadioTime.com users. Stations from all across the country are represented, as well as two Internet-only stations.
“While country music is evolving and attracting new and younger fans, our rankings show the classic country and bluegrass formats still have very strong followings,” says Dan Halyburton, President, RadioTime, Inc. “Not every local market offers those formats, and that’s where RadioTime can help. The RadioTime Guide makes it easy for our users to find their favorite music on their computers, mobile phones and Internet-connect home entertainment devices, so we expect this list will change as listeners discover and share new favorites.”
KTHT-FM “County Legends 97.1” (Houston, Texas), KKAT-FM “Country Legends 107.5” (Salt Lake City-Ogden-Provo, Utah), WXTU-FM (Philadelphia, Pa.), KTPK-FM “Country Legends 106.9” (Topeka, Kan.), and WSM, Nashville top the list of most listened to country music stations through RadioTime. Chicago’s 99.5 WUSN, which has been nominated for a 2009 Country Music Association Radio Station of the Year award, ranks seventh on the RadioTime list. Two Internet-only stations, 181.FM Front Porch and 1.FM Classic Country, also make the list at numbers 12 and 14 respectively. HD radio is represented with WAMU-HD2 “Bluegrass Country” in Washington, D.C.
RadioTime aggregates over 60,000 station streams on its platform and offers the ability to search for stations all over the world in terms of genres, geography and other attributes. They have over 20 million listening sessions per month. While these numbers don’t represent overall listening to any station, they provide an interesting snapshot of what’s going on within RadioTime’s large Internet radio portal.
